Introduction

This policy describes what data we collect when you use Dinnerhere, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to anyone who creates an account, belongs to a team, or visits a menu published via a QR code or public link.

Data we collect

Depending on how you use the service, we collect:

• Account data: username, full name and email provided at registration or by the team admin who invites you.
• Authentication data: your password is never stored in plain text (only its hash).
• Content you upload: menu, category and item names and descriptions, prices, availability, item photos, and the team logo uploaded for branding, where applicable.
• Technical data: IP address and minimal log information, used for security.

How we use it

We use this data exclusively to provide the service: showing your menus, keeping your account secure, sending you necessary team invitation or password reset emails, and keeping the minimal history required for the service to work correctly. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Third-party services

We share data with external services only to the extent needed to run the service:

• Sending email: used for team invitations, confirmations and password resets.
• Hosting: the application and your content (including uploaded photos) are hosted on our own servers.

Cookies

We use a technical session cookie, needed to keep you signed in, a cookie to remember your chosen language, and data stored locally in your browser (localStorage) to remember your light/dark mode preference: none of these require consent, as they're necessary for the site to work. We don't use profiling or third-party advertising cookies.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account stays active. If you delete your account or a team you own, the associated content (menus, categories, items, photos) is removed; some minimal data may be kept longer where required by legal obligations or for the security of the service.

Your rights

You can access, correct or request deletion of your data at any time: many of these actions are already available directly from your account and team settings. For any other request, write to us at the contact details at the bottom of this page.

Children

Dinnerhere isn't intended for use by children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data about anyone under that age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page always reflects the most recent version.
